Sophie’s Flats is a design and build company based in Ontario, Canada. We specialize in accessory dwelling units called ADUs, which are independent homes built in residential backyards. Our mission is to help homeowners expand their living space with thoughtful, efficient, and code-compliant designs. We handle every stage from concept through permitting to construction, focusing on innovation and sustainability.
We are seeking an Architectural Designer to create and develop architectural plans and design solutions for ADU projects. Your work will include
Producing detailed architectural drawings and 3D models
Developing design concepts that balance aesthetics, functionality, and compliance
Preparing documentation for permits and approvals
Coordinating with clients, engineers, contractors, and internal teams
Researching building materials, sustainable design options, and local codes
Presenting designs clearly to clients and project stakeholders

Ideal candidates will have
A degree or diploma in architecture or architectural design
Proficiency in CAD software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, or similar tools
Strong understanding of Ontario building codes, zoning, and permitting processes
Excellent creativity, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
Strong communication and collaboration abilities
Experience or interest in residential architecture or ADUs is an advantage
